Biography:

Pınar Tezişçi Özmenay began her violin studies with Ludmilla Sirotina in Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory in 1996 and graduated in 2006.

She started her postgraduate studies with Prof. Dr. Cihat Aşkın in 2007 and received her master’s degree in 2010 and PhD degree in 2018 at Istanbul Technical University Dr. Erol Üçer Center For Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM).

Throughout her education life, she attended master classes of Pierre Amoyal, Alexander Shustin, Alexander Markov, Stephan Picard, Hagai Shaham, Oliver Charlier, Michael Vaiman, and Mincho Minchev. During her doctoral studies, she studied with Ayla Erduran for 2 years.  In 2012, she studied with Stephan Picard at “The International Academy of Cagliari” in İtaly and in the following year, she studied with Michael Vaiman at “Mozarteum Summer Academy” in Austuria.

After taking improvisation and world music classes in Berlin in summer of 2005 and 2006, she was invited to a project supported by European Union, and represented Turkey in the international festivals that took place in Germany, Austuria, Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia.

She played in many orhestras such as Hacettepe University Academic Orchestra, İstanbul Chamber Orchestra, Aşkın Ensemble, and Milli Re Chamber Orchestra and she gave concerts both nationally and internationally. She also took place at CAKA Violin Education Project for 10 years as a violin teacher and organized numerous concerts and masterclasses. 

Starting her studies on musician’s health in 2007, Pınar Tezişçi Özmenay took “Musician Yoga” lessons from Stephan Maria Karl and “Alexander Technique” lessons from Sibylle Havemann in Salzburg in 2013. In 2016, she received an academic research invitation from Mississippi University, and she made her research and took classes on musician’s health and Alexander Technique in Mississippi, New York, Los Angeles, and London. She finished her PhD thesis, The Importance of the Physiological and Psychological Health for Violinists: A Study on Alexander Technique”, in 2018.

She has two articles published on AKÜ AMADER in 2016 “Body Exercise Approach of Yehudi Menuhin in Violin Education”, and in 2018 “The Basic Guiding Principles and Application Methods of Alexander Technique”.

Currently, she is teaching in İstanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory.
