Tufan Kurdoğlu (b. 1979 in İstanbul, Turkey) began his classical guitar studies with Ayhan Akkaya, and continued with Soner Egesel, Bekir Kucukay and Ricardo Moyano. He has participated in Lambesc, Esztregom, Westfalian and Bilkent guitar festivals and attended master classes of guitarists such as Carlo Domeniconi, Dale Kavanagh, Eric Sobczik, Jozsef Eotvos, Maria Livia Sao Marcos, Martin Myslivecek, Szilvagyi Sandor, Jozef Zsapka, Lily Afshar, Francesco Cuenca, Thomas Muller-Pering, Thomas Kirchhoff, Allan Neave, Javier Garcia Moreno, Milena & Valentin Guitar Duo. He has taught classical guitar in several institutions such as Boğaziçi University Folklore Club, Boğaziçi Performance Arts Community, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Alumni Association (BÜMED), İstanbul Technical University Social Cultural Center, İstanbul Municipality. He has given many concerts in Turkey and abroad in organizations like; Second international İstanbul Technical University Savaş Çekirge Classical Guitar Days, Bilkent Üniversity Second Turkey Guitar Festival, “The International Classical Guitar Festival Westfalian Guitar Spring-Germany”, Guitar Orchestra Concert in 16th International Guitar Festival of Esztergom-Hungary. In 2008 he accomplished his master degree in Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music Department by writing the thesis “Group music in Turkey in 1980s” under the supervision of Prof. Songül Karahasanoğlu. Since 2014 he has been studying microtonal guitar with Associate Professor Tolgahan Çoğulu. In 2016 he was admitted to the doctorate program in Istanbul Technical University, department of Dr. Erol Üçer Center for Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM). Since 2016, Tufan Kurdoğlu has been a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University, Turkish Music Conservatory.
