Biyografi:

Nermin Kaygusuz was born in Ankara. She studied violin at the Turkish Music State Conservatory with Erdoğan Saydam. From 1986 to 1992, she completed her master’s and doctoral degree at Istanbul Technical University. In 1989, she learned kemençe with four strings from Cüneyd Orhon and started teaching kemençe at Turkish Music State Conservatory, In 2001, she received the Associate Professor title. She worked with Prod. Dr. Berthold Hoeckner on musical aesthetics at the University of Chicago in 2003. Kaygusuz has released three CDs: “Gönülden Damlalar”, “Kemençe ve Gitarla Saz Eserleri”, and “Telkâri.” With a University Project she gave Onur Türkmen composed “hat for kemençe and strings” whis is the firts piece for kemençe. Nermin Kaygusuz, a kemençe player and singer, is one of Turkey’s most eminent musicians who perform both in traditional Turkish music and new music genres. She has worked with ensembles such as Istanbul Baroque Ensemble, Avaze, Arayışlar, Gönülden Damlalar, Melodias Epicas, Buluşma. 2014 she performed with Hezarfen Ensemble at Berlin Maerz Musik Festival and gave concerts, lectures in Europe with the microtonal guitar kemençe duo that she’s established with Tolgahan Çoğulu. In 2006, Kaygusuz published the book “Muallim İsmail Hakkı Bey ve Musiki Tekâmül Dersleri.” In 2007, she received the title of Professor. She is currently a professor at ITU Turkish Music State Concervatory and continues performing concerts.
