Biography:

Gularam Baltayeva studied opera at the National Conservatory of Turkmenistan under Associate Professor Galina Aleksandrovna Struchkova from 1982 to 1989. While she was in her fifth year at conservatory, she began appearing in leading roles in the Turkmen State Opera for both classical and national operas. She was the High State Soloist of the Turkmen State Opera from 1996 to 2001 and the soloist of the Chamber Orchestra SAZ between the years 1994 to 2007. In 2000, she performed as a soloist with the Russian National Symphony Orchestra at the International Japanese Music Festival at the Tchaikovsky Grand Concert Hall of Conservatory. From 2003 to 2010 she taught as a lecturer at the Turkmen National Conservatory, and she gave a solo concert with Kara Karayev Orchestra in Baku in 2003. Gularam Baltayeva appeared as Maria in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story for a joint American-Turkmenistan project. In 2008, she performed as a soloist in the opening ceremony for the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan. On March 8, 2008, she was awarded a gold medal for her outstanding achievements in artistic work by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov. In 2010 she presented a solo concert at the opening ceremony of the İzzat Klıçev Gallery in Singapore in honor of that great Turkmen painter. Between 1997 and 2016, she was a soloist and juror at important international festivals held in theTurkish Republic of NorthernCyprus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and many European countries. In cooperation with TÜRKSOY, she performed as a soloist representing Turkmenistan at international concerts and festivals held in Baku and Sheki in Azerbaijan, Bucharest and Constanta in Romania, Komrat in Gagavuzya, and Chishinau in Moldova. Gularam Baltayeva has lectured at the ITU TMDK Voice Education Department since 2010, and she has been a jury member and soloist at many national and international festivals and major events across Turkey. Since 2017, she has been a coordinator of the ITU Continuing Education Center’s Certified Art Programs operating at the ITU Maslak Campus.
